Allied Arts works to lure new talent to city: Incentives offered to out-of-town artists.

Apr. 25--Ellijay, Ga., watercolor artist Joy Sabin Lyons planned to move to one of three cities: Knoxville; Asheville, N.C.; or Chattanooga. She said what put her in a new house and workspace in the M.L. King neighborhood, more than anything else, was a grant from Allied Arts.

Ms. Lyons is the first artist to benefit from a new relocation program that provides incentives worth up to $17,500 to outof-town artists willing to move to Chattanooga.

The Allied Arts program, funded by the Lyndhurst Foundation, kicks off nationwide with a series of advertisements in trade magazines in June, but Allied Arts already has approved its …
