Fed: WIN TV faces strikes bent on "maximum disruption"

SYDNEY, April 7 AAP - Strikes designed for maximum disruption will hit regional televisionnetwork WIN TV from this week, caused by management refusal to discuss enterprise agreements.

The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) said the "wildcat" rolling stoppages wouldbe held over three weeks on a station by station basis at WIN's 21 sites.

"These will be at times designed to cause maximum disruption to WIN," said CPSU organiserLeah Piper.

"I'd say local news bulletins will be impacted."

Details of each stoppage would be released the day it was to be held, Ms Piper added.

Staff voted on Friday last week to take the rolling stoppages after management refusedto meet with the union to discuss the enterprise agreement.

Employees also refused to make themselves available outside work hours while they werenot paid an on-call allowance.

"Up until Friday our campaign had been focused on getting them to the table but nowmembers have said they won't talk to us so we're going to continue to take industrialaction until they accept our claim," Ms Piper said.

The union is campaigning for a 4.5 per cent pay rise, an allowance for on-call workers,multi-skilling loading, an industry standard redundancy package and a 19-day working month.

A spokesman from WIN TV in Wollongong said the stoppages would not affect output.
